SURVEY OF QUALITIES OF FAMILY-FRIENDLY SPACES

The Survey of Qualities of Family-friendly Spaces was a survey that Kinderpublic conducted during our time at the Columbia University GSAPP Incubator which was geared towards creative professionals that were parents and addressed issues that young families have to navigate when raising their children in New York City. Survey topics included transportation and commuting, family amenities in public spaces, and balancing work and family life.

The project gave us an opportunity to reach out to our network of design organizations and advocacy groups as well as the Columbia GSAPP alumni network to get a broad sampling of the concerns impacting young working families. We are further developing the research into the next phase which will focus on spatial strategies and design guidelines to improves accessibility of public and private spaces.
