Cevan Castle, Co-founder

Cevan Castle is dedicated to strengthening the interdisciplinary connections that benefit community goals within a collaborative design practice. She has worked in public programming and education in a variety of contexts: organizing and delivering speaker series, workshops, and innovative learning content for organizations including the Joan Mitchell Foundation, University of Toronto, the CUE Art Foundation, Pitney Meadows Community Farm and BIDs.

With extensive experience in landscape and architectural design, working in a mission-driven context, her areas of expertise include: educational green spaces, urban greening, wildlife conservation plantings, ecologically sensitive strategies, and accessible children’s spaces.

Cevan received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation (GSAPP) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Fine Art from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Michigan. Cevan founded the NYC-based Center for Parenting Artists. She is a Climate Reality Leader and member of the Climate Reality Capital Region Chapter in New York. She is interested in the means by which spatial and economic structures can positively impact human quality of life. Her most important ongoing work is learning about our planet with her three children.

 

Annie Chen, Assoc. AIA, LEED GA, Co-founder

Annie Chen is an Architectural Designer committed to designing for socially impactful and environmentally sustainable futures. With extensive experience in all phases of design and construction, she has been involved with a broad range of project types including community-oriented, large scale, mixed-use developments and K-12 educational facilities. She has worked for the artist Agnes Denes and at both boutique and international architecture firms in Washington D.C., New York City and Beijing.

She has served as a Trustee of the Awesome Newburgh Foundation that supports public projects in Newburgh, New York through the Awesome Foundation and has been a guest critic at the Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture. Annie has had work exhibited at the AIA New York Center for Architecture and the Ras Al Ain Gallery in Amman, Jordan. She was selected for the inaugural class of the AIA D.C. Mentorship Program connecting emerging professionals with AIA Fellows.

Annie received her Master of Architecture degree from Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning & Preservation (GSAPP) and her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and East Asian Studies at University of Wisconsin-Madison.
